Don’t have a fireplace like you used to as a kid? Or don’t have central heating like most of Japan? Well those wacky Japanese are taking care of that with this digital space heater that actually shows wood burning as it gives off its live-saving heat.

Unfortunately, the little bugger goes for 25,800 yen ($242).

More Mimobots

Posted in Neato Gadgets by Eric on August 17th, 2007

I recently received a new car stereo as a gift and my far my favourite of its many features is the front panel USB slot. No futzing about with aux inputs or iPod connectors required. I just slide my USB drive into the slot and it’s ready to go with however many songs I was able to stuff in there.

I’m currently using a Sandisk Cruzer 4GB drive, and while it matches the stereo (even down to the file access light), it’s rather boring, isn’t it?

Why use something small, unobtrusive and purely functional when you can use a mimobot drive?

I wrote about these before, but my new music-induced flash drive usage brought me back to the overly cute drives. Since that last post, there have been a few new lines released, including the Core Mimobots Series 2 and a Happy Tree Friends Series. To be honest, though, I still just want the Stormtrooper.

Oh, and for all the dirty mimobot pics and random assorted junk strewn everywhere, check out their MySpace page.

Remote Controlled Sumo Wrestling

Posted in Neato Gadgets by Ryan on March 28th, 2007

Sumo wrestling is one interesting sport from the Far East, and you can now indulge yourself in it without putting on a horrendous amount of weight thanks to the remote-controlled Super Sumos. These puzzled looking warriors of the flab can be controlled by moving your fingers and thumbs on the smiley-faced remote controls, with the objective of knocking your opponent out of the ring. Each pair retails for £19.99, so pick a set up today and settle any disputes you have with your mate sumo-to-sumo.

Carry Files and Stay Hygienic with No Fear of Electrocution

Posted in Neato Gadgets, Mobile Gadgets by Eric on March 15th, 2007

I’ve seen some bizarre USB devices in my time, and this one doesn’t disappoint.

I am 99% sure that I’ve never thought to myself, while shaving, that it would be just perfect if I could carry some mp3s or maybe a few video files on the same device. In fact, shaving is so far down on my list of favourite activities that I’m usually thinking of nothing so much as getting it over with as fast as possible.

Of course, if someone made a USB straight razor, I’d be all over that. That would be so hot, in a steampunk sort of way.

Need A Little Help On You SATs?

Posted in Neato Gadgets by Ryan on March 12th, 2007

With SAT testing just around the corner, high school students everywhere are burning the midnight oil trying to cram all that information into their burned out lil’ heads. For those that need a little boost in memory, here are some cool gadgets that might just slip by undetected:

ink2

These are perfect for writing down things you need in exam.Ink is invisible to the naked eye, but magically illuminate when exposed to a blacklight.A blacklight is conveniently located on the opposite end of the pen.

calc2

Programmable calculators can hold text, formulas, even pictures.Texas Instruments says its TI-83 Plus is the “top choice among U.S. high school students,” and I can see why. Add-on memory lets you store software, turning your calculator into a pocket notebook. (And the company is happy to point out that the TI-83 Plus is “allowed for use on the PSAT, SAT I, SAT II Math IC and IIC, AP Chemistry exam, AP Physics exam, and AP Calculus exam.”)

need some more helpful tools? Head on over here!

(just remember, it is not cheating as long as you are not caught)
