‘KissPhone’ would let you give some lip

 KISSPHONE

We’re dubious about the authenticity of this purported concept, but it may out of an overwhelming sense of denial. It’s just too depressing–and disturbing–to think that someone would actually come up with this idea, let alone find a market for it.

The “KissPhone” is a device that supposedly does its best to duplicate the buss of an acquaintance with an “artificial mouth,” according to its inventor, who happens to be based in Paris. (No comment.) “This KissPhone detects percussion speed, pressure, temperature, and sucking force of the lips, when you kiss it,” according to PROinvention.

So the theory is that you can get an accurate “kiss” even while long distance, according to Slippery Brick, as long as the person on the other end has a lip phone as well. PROinvention even envisions a way to download samples from an online inventory of kisses from such celebrities as Madonna. Maybe there’s a market for this after all.

   Xbox 360

Microsoft is in is in talks with Sony about getting a Blu-ray drive for its Xbox 360 console, now that HD DVD is a goner.

That’s the claim anyway but, this time, it’s reportedly from Stan Glasgow, Sony Electronics’ US CEO, the same man who just admitted that cheap Blu-ray players won’t land until 2009. Stan’s a busy man. Either the wine took control of his tongue and he spilled a tidy little secret or, he’s just having a laugh.

This Unique Swiftpoint mouse from Simtrix definitely breaks the mould of mouse design. It does not require a flat surface and was designed to be held between the thumb and index finger, targeting multimedia and notebook users in mind.

A built-in microphone allows recording of notes to self, meetings, conversations or various ramblings for later playback.  beertender

Enjoying a draft beer generally requires that you take a trip to the local pub or throw a keg party and invite the neighborhood. But sometimes, a man just wants a frosty draft brew in the peace and comfort of his own home, without a lot of muss and fuss. To that end, Krups and Heineken have teamed up to bring us the BeerTender ($280), a countertop kegerator (its footprint is no larger than that of a microwave) that keeps tapped kegs cool and fresh for up to 30 days.

Sega Body Trainer

SegaBody Trainer: A Digital Exercise Couch For Your Medical Entertaiment

Sega Toy’s new Body Trainer is a “medical entertainment” product, we kid you not, designed to guide you through your exercise regime. Taking account of your age, weight and so on, it advises you with spoken prompts along the lines of “Let’s start warming up.” It actually measures your heart rate with an earlobe clip, so it can tailor its advice and can even detect if you’re slacking— you wont get a crazed Army drill instructor-style insult from it though, just a wimpy “please exercise a little bit harder.”

With three modes for walking, jogging and aerobics, the device also accepts audio input from an MP3 player so you can jog along to your favorite tunes, or a recording of your most inspiring jody if you actually are a military type.

iView Concept Curved Screen Feels Futuristic

Curved ImacCurved ImacCurved ImacCurved Imac

Have you ever seen some new technology that feels like it was plucked from an old sci-fi movie? For example, how our clamshell cell phones resemble Captain Kirk’s communicator from Star Trek.

Another example would have to be new iView concept screen from designer Nuno Teixeira. The design looks to be based on old 1950’s wraparound cinema screens as the screen comes around to surround the viewer. To be honest, I can’t really think of any practical reason for the wraparound effect other than it looks cool.

Though you can’t see it in this picture, the iView has another extraordinary feature: a screen on the other side. The screen is a bit smaller, but it would be good for office interactions.

I can totally see this iView as a science fiction movie prop, especially with the screen on the other side. The scene would be a guy in an office to discuss a situation with another person. The person behind the desk would be giving news to the guy on the other side, and displaying it on the other screen. However, their two screens would be completely opposite of each other. For example, the screen on the other side would have some nice info, and the guy behind the desk would be seeing “Kill Him” on the screen.

Despite the dark sci-fi factor that I just introduced to this wonderfully bleached-white product, I still think it is a cool product and would like to see it develop into reality.
