When I saw this story about a head mounted display that Toshiba showed at some conference, I was sure it had to be a joke.

Come on, it looks like a slightly upgraded model of Dark Helmet’s headgear from Spaceballs. That being said, I’ve wanted my own insane VR helmet-bubble-thing for ages.

I don’t own a PSP or plan on getting one any time soon, but this analog stick mod is too damn cool.

USB flash drives come in many shapes and sizes these days, but the offerings from mimoco are some of the nicest ones I’ve seen. All of their drives start with the same basic too-cutesy shape, but then the designers go crazy with them. Each mimobot also has a little profile talking about them and their hobbies and such. At first I was thinking I’d get on for my girlfriend, but now I want corrupted_data , the one pictured below, for myself.

Quite a few of their designs are sold out, but many there’s still a good lineup to choose from. Their newest series is Star Wars themed and the first mimobot is Darth Vader, although he’s still only available for pre-order. I can’t wait to see what Yoda will look like.

And for those of you who always end up losing the cap on your flash drives, mimoco also offers a keychain attachment they call a Protohoodie which promises to keep your mimobot safe.

I was surprised to learn that in other countries the uncontrollably giggling toy of choice is TMX Ernie, not TMX Elmo.

The German one is just frightening.

Are there any other varieties in other countries?

I’ve been telling myself I wanted something like this for years. A way to control the mouse without having to move my hand of the keyboard. And no, I don’t mean something like those little IBM pointing nubs.

After seeing Combimouse, I’m thinking maybe it’s not such a hot idea. I can just imagine trying to send a message to my team members in a game and accidentally shooting one of them instead.

I won’t even go into what might occur while involved in slightly more “intimate” internet activities.
