Liquid Lens “is more than a better mousetrap”.
Varioptic of France introduces its Arctic 320 liquid lens. Now available for camera makers to use in their products.
A zoom and auto-focus lens, with no moving parts, so it changes shape without any mechanics. It is developed based on the electrowetting phenomenon. Electricity is used to change the focus of the lens by altering the border between two drops of liquid, working somewhat like the human eye.
Varioptic says its new lens has made leaps in minimizing power consumption and miniaturization (meaning it should be a blessing for cameraphones).

As if women were not already paraniod enough about their biological clocks.  A company in the UK called Lifestyle Choices has begun selling a fertility test called which claims to tell women approximately how many eggs they have left in their ovaries. Although it won’t provide you with an exact number, it measures 3 different hormones to give you an “assessment.â€
Apple and Palm? Pending Marriage?

The rumor is in the wind that Apple is thinking about purchasing Palm. Now that would be incredibly cool. These two companies together could certainly spawn some intereting gadgets, like the NanoPalm, PalmPod, etc….I am sure you get the idea. Let’s sit back a few days and see if there emerges any truth to this.
